National Youth Progresses to day-3 at Asaba
Two days after the opening ceremony of the National Youth Games holding in Asaba, Delta State, no fewer than nine different sports would be commencing at various competition venues today(Monday).
The sports include athletics, swimming, dart, golf, gymnastics, and hockey, scrabble, shooting, and swimming.
A visit to the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, venue for the athletics, revealed that the Tanta tracks had been given a face lift, and cleared of unwanted obstructions.
Officials were sighted, perfecting all the arrangement to allow for smooth take off of field and track events.
The situation was the same when our man covering the National Youth Games arrived at the Swimming Pool section of the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
The athletes were sighted rehearsing, with their coaches giving out necessary instructions.
President of the Aquatics Federation of Nigeria, Mrs Chinonye Aliu-Dafe told Radio Nigeria that all was set for the commencement of swimming.
Meanwhile, some states have registered their presence on the medals table in several sports events such as cycling, Jido, para-table tennis, table tennis, weight lifting and swimming that had already started.
Edo has won two medals in cycling. One Gold and one Bronze Medal.
Katsina State won first Bronze medal by Ema Divine at Male Jido 40kg.
Team Kwara won Gold medal in table tennis mixed double and two Silver medals in cycling.

Abia State Assistant Coach for table tennis, Eze Nwankwo said he was impressed with the performances of his athletes in table tennis and para-tennis events so far, and that he was sure of winning medals in the event.
He called for improvement in the officiating as the competitions continue.
