NATIONAL ASSEMBLY RESUMES: AGBEDI SET TO SHAPE KEY LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

October 7, 2025.
Abuja, Nigeria – The National Assembly reconvened on Tuesday after weeks of legislative recess, with lawmakers resuming plenary to deliberate on critical national issues.
Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, PhD, who represents Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, was among those sighted in the chambers as proceedings commenced. He was accompanied by a colleague during the resumption.
The new legislative session is expected to be dominated by debates on pressing matters of national concern, including the economy, infrastructure, security, and governance reforms. As a ranking legislator and influential voice from the Niger Delta, Hon. Agbedi is anticipated to play a key role in shaping discussions, particularly on policies affecting oil-producing communities and Nigeria’s broader development agenda.
In a related engagement on Monday, October 6, Agbedi joined fellow lawmakers and parliamentary leaders at a Constitution Review session chaired by the Deputy Speaker. The gathering, which drew party leadership, women representatives, and other stakeholders, focused on far-reaching constitutional reforms designed to strengthen governance, deepen democratic processes, and address long-standing structural challenges within the federation.
Observers say the coming weeks will test the legislature’s capacity to respond to Nigeria’s mounting challenges, even as public expectations remain high.
