Mysterious fire guts Sheikh Gumi’s house
Even though the cause of the fire outbreak was scanty as at the time of filing the report, a source, who pleaded anonymity, said that the fire started at the section of the Islamiyya School.
According to him: “We just saw smoke coming out from one of the classes. We immediately drew the attention of the people around and started fetching water to prevent the fire from reaching the other buildings.
“We thank Allah that the fire incident did not affect any life and we thank the people around for the assistance rendered,” the source added.
In video footage on Gumi’s Facebook page, firefighters and sympathisers were seen making effort to extinguish the fire.
Gumi, in the clip, said: “I thank God the fire was controlled and there were no casualties. Education will continue for the students whose accommodation was on fire. We will look for an alternative place for them.”
Gumi is the current Mufti and Mufassir (Explainer of the Holy Quran) at the Kaduna Central Mosque, Sultan Bello.
