NAYES TOP GROUP A TABLE WITH WIN OVER CORRECTIONAL SERVICE AS GOVERNOR A.A. SULE INTER-SECURITY AGENCIES FOOTBALL COMPETITION HOTS UP

The Nasarawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme, NAYES, are now joint-top in Group ‘A’ with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, on six points and four goals apiece following their 2-0 victory over the Nigerian Correctional Service side on Wednesday at the ongoing 2nd edition of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule Inter-Security Agencies Unity Cup Football Tournament holding at the Lafia City Stadium.
Aliyu Galadima gave the defending Champions an early edge in the 16th minute after many trials in the game whose first-half ball possession was at 50-50 separately.
Coach of the Correctional Service side made some tactical changes in the reverse-half and almost got rewarded for his decision but for the acrobatic brilliance of the NAYES’ goalkeeper who parried Ahmed Yakubu Addah’s free-kick over the cross bar for a corner kick.
Jamilu Bilya-Usman made matters worse for the opponents as he poked in the second goal for NAYES in the 51st minute.
The scoreline remained unchanged until the regulation time whistle, a second consecutive win for the defending title holders and a second straight defeat for the Correctional Service team in less than 72-hours, after being thrashed by the FRSC two days past.
The Correctional Service are now 4th on the Group ‘A’ standings with three points behind the Nigerian Police Force who have a higher goal advantage but share same points.
GROUP B FIXTURES.
Action continues on Thursday at same venue as the Nigerian Army are hoping to tow their winning path when they trade tackles with the Federal Fire Service by 2pm in the first Group ‘B’ match of the day, whereas the Department of State Service, DSS, are plotting the downfall of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, by 4pm, with a belief to record their first win of the tournament after going down 0-2 to the NSCDC in their opening game.
