Man United now prepared to agree £62million fee to sign player – Report

Manchester United bowed out of the FA Cup this season in dramatic fashion against Fulham last night, losing 4-3 on penalties.
It was one of those games that further underscored the Red Devils’ incompetence on the pitch this season, with the Cottagers looking to be the much stronger squad in terms of ability, playstyle and options off the bench.
The only reason the Red Devils even managed to take this game into penalties was Andre Onana with the Cameroonian shot-stopper making one big save after another and keeping Ruben Amorim’s team in the game.
However, that was not enough for Man Utd to prevail as they failed to get past the London club in the end.
Last night was yet another game where Amorim lined up with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in the starting line-up and it is fair to say that both of them failed to have the desired impact yet again.
Hojlund was hooked in the second half for the youngster, Chido Obi-Martin, who showed more promise than the Dane in the time on the pitch.
Man Utd must sign prolific striker
The FA Cup exit was a timely reminder that Man Utd needed to reinforce the number nine position ahead of next summer.
As per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd are now prepared to pay release clause by agreeing £62million fee with Napoli to sign talented but out-of-favor Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen has been one of the best strikers in Europe for some time now. Having fallen out with the Italian club, he is now currently playing on loan at Galatasaray where he has been impressing with 12 goals in 19 league games and there is no doubt that he would be eyeing a move to a top European club next summer.
While Man Utd can benefit from having the African striker in their ranks, Osimhen might not want to move to Old Trafford and join a club that isn’t competing regularly in the Champions League and challenging for trophies. He is too good a player to be fighting a mid-table battle like the Red Devils are now.
There is no doubt that Ruben Amorim needs a reliable goalscorer up top if he harbours any hopes of building a winning project in Manchester.
Currently, what his team has been showing is hardly enough and difficult decisions need to be made come the summer for the betterment of the club.
The upcoming summer is make or break for Man Utd and they need to get their recruitment spot on to make an attempt to remain competitive again.
At the moment, they do not represent anything more than a midtable PL club with a glorious history and let’s wait and see if that situation changes going forward.
