Malesela Touted For Pirates Move

While it remains to be seen if Orlando Pirates will add another member to their technical team, the Siya crew has been informed that former Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has been offered to the club.
Malesela has been unattached since parting ways with the Chilli Boys in April but is keen on a return to the bench.
Sources in the know have indicated that the mentor was recently offered to the Buccaneers with a view to adding him to the team which includes Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids.

Ncikazi and Davids have been in charge of the Bucs technical team since Josef Zinnbauer’s exit last month, after the German coach resigned from his position as the Pirates head coach.
While the Soweto giants have not yet indicated if they will replace Zinnbauer during the course of the 2021/22 season, it is believed that the club could look to add a third coach to strengthen their technical at some point, this after also being linked with Cavin Johnson, who recently vacated his position as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant at Al Ahly.

As reported in edition 1242 of Soccer Laduma, a well-placed source confirmed that the highly-respected Malesela has been offered to Bucs, although the club’s official position is unclear at this point in time with regards to their plans for the technical team.
“Dan Malesela is keen on a return to coaching after being out for some time. He is ready for any challenge that might come his way and he would love to go to a club that is stable and which is serious about winning in his new job. That’s why the coach was recently offered to Pirates,” said the source.

“The coach feels that he is ready to coach at a big club like Pirates. You must remember that this is the same coach who won the Nedbank Cup with TS Galaxy (in 2019) while the club was still in the NFD (now GladAfrica Championship) after they beat Kaizer Chiefs in the final. It’s just that the club (Pirates) doesn’t seem to be keen at the moment to add to their technical team and the coach will have to look elsewhere,” the source added.
