Liverpool receive Kylian Mbappe boost, but Lorenzo Pellegrini and Raphinha staying put
Kylian Mbappe could be a dream free transfer for Liverpool next summer, while Lorenzo Pellegrini and Raphinha look set to stay at their respective clubs this summer amid rumours of Anfield interest
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could land one of the signings of the century amid reports Kylian Mbappe is willing to run down his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Reds would have to wait until 2022 to conclude the deal, although they’d be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the player from January.
As for the club’s more immediate prospects, Liverpool look set to miss out on Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini and Leeds winger Raphinha, each of whom are said to be happy in their current settings.
The only import at Anfield so far this summer is £36million Ibrahima Konate, but more reinforcements will be expected to follow ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Mbappe could leave PSG for free
PSG predator Mbappe could become one of the most valuable free signings in history next summer following claims the 2018 World Cup winner is prepared to leave Paris in 2022.
The impossible football quiz – how many can you get right?
That’s after the Daily Express quoted RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo, who said the France striker has lost faith in the vision of PSG director Leonardo: “I know that Mbappe asked to leave.
“However, it is complicated because first, you have to find a club that has the money to pay him.
“But the news is that he really does not want to stay. The player does not believe in Leonardo’s project.
“If he does not leave this summer, it will be for free next season. And in Doha [PSG’s owners] they do not want to hear about it.

“If Mbappe expresses this desire to leave, it means that he will have to find a club. Then PSG will also need to look for a replacement.
“But yes, the news is that Mbappe does not want to stay at PSG.”
It’s possible PSG will look to sell their star forward this summer if they accept a contract extension is no longer possible, rather than lose arguably their most valuable asset for nothing next year.
Mbappe, 22, has scored 132 goals and recorded 61 assists in 171 appearances for PSG since joining the club from Monaco in 2017 (initially on loan).
Liverpool might be among the elite list of clubs who could find the funds to finance a move for the Champions League runner-up, whose club finished second to Lille in Ligue 1 this past season.
Pellegrini settled in Rome
Roma playmaker Pellegrini is prepared to turn down Liverpool’s advances this summer ‘despite the flattery’ of being linked with Klopp’s side, it’s understood.
Corriere dello Sport reported the club’s academy product wants to follow the likes of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi in becoming a Roma legend, even if that means rejecting some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Central midfielder Pellegrini, 25, is said to have a €30million (£25.7m) release clause in his contract, which may be of interest to the Reds after he scored 11 goals in assisted nine others last season.
However, it’s understood the Rome native wouldn’t want to see it triggered even if the likes of Liverpool or Barcelona came calling, hoping to be a part of Jose Mourinho’s new project at the Stadio Olimpico.

An encouraging first season at Leeds saw Raphinha attract rumours of a move to Liverpool, but it’s believed Klopp’s side aren’t interested in a move for the Brazilian.
The Liverpool Echo praised Mohamed Salah as the club’s “most important forward” and undisputed king of the right flank, leading Leeds Live to surmise the Reds have other priorities this summer.
Raphinha, 24, had 15 direct goal involvements (six goals, nine assists) in his first 30 Premier League appearances after moving to Elland Road from Rennes last summer.
The South American has represented three clubs in the past three campaigns, but Marcelo Bielsa will be eager to ensure his star stays put after he helped guide Leeds to ninth last term.
