The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) said its presidential candidate, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would represent the interest of the masses and not that of the elites if elected in 2023.
Kwakwanso is one the strong politicians from Kano who had dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to be the flag bearer of NNPP in the 2023 presidential election.
He was also a former member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the build up to 2015 general elections that brought in President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking during a live radio programme, Lagostalks 91.3FM on Saturday, the Publicity Secretary of NNPP who doubles as the spokesman of the Kwakwanso presidential campaign team, Mr Ladipo Johnson believes his principal would emerge victorious in the election because of his track records.
Johnson said, “We are building momentum. We first completed the tours of the South West and we are moving to other parts of the country.
“We are trying to cut cost in governance so that we can bring in some fiscal disciplines, so that we can create an environment for business to thrive.
“The security situation is the important because without that no one will come to invest. We are saying that what has Goverment done to cut Its cost?” He queried?
Responding to a question on the fact that Kwakwanso had once been in government, NNPP spokesman added, “He has been in government but he has track records.
“Nigerians should be getting a man who is detribilized. Someone with capacity and political will to get things done.” citing examples of how Kwakwanso supported Chief MKO Abiola to defeat Tofa in 1993 and also gave support to Obasanjo in 1999 to emerge as the president.
He explained that,”the masses are getting someone who is not going to keep the interest of the elites. He has upheld the rights of the talakawas. He is a man of his words.”
