Korhogo and San Pedro to host CAF Women’s Champions League, Côte d’Ivoire 2023
- Korhogo and San Pedro named host cities of the third edition of CAF Women’s Champions League
- Tournament to be played between 05 and 19 November 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire
- Groups have been revealed with former champions ASFAR and Mamelodi Sundowns headlining the competition.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is proud to confirm that the two host cities set to stage the CAF Women’s Champions League, Cote d’Ivoire 2023 will be Korhogo and San Pedro.
The third edition of the Africa’s most prestigious women’s football club competition takes centre stage in the Ivorian nation between 05 – 19 November as the country continues with its hive of African football activity ahead of hosting next year’s TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw of the competition was held at the nation’s capital city of Abidjan on Monday, 09 October, where it was conducted by two legends of the African women’s game in Fernande Tchetche of Cote d’Ivoire, who was flanked TotalEnergies WAFCON 2022 winning captain, Janine Van Wyk of South Africa.
As expected, the draw produced highly appetising fixtures for the competition that carries a prize money of USD 400 000 for the winners.
Host club, Athletico FC d’Abidjan will strongly rely on the support of the locals from Korhogo and San Pedro as they make their debut in a difficult Group A consisting of inaugural champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, who are looking at reclaiming the title they lost to AS Far last season.
Another African powerhouse featuring in the group is Morocco’s SC Casablanca who are looking at making a mark in the competition alongside Tanzania’s JKT Queens, who can cause an upset in the competition.
All eyes will be on the reigning champions, AS Far who headline an interesting Group B that consists of Ampem Darkoa of Ghana, Equatorial Guinea’s Huracanes FC as well as AS Mande of Mali.

KORHOGO
Korhogo, the capital of the Savanes region, derives its name from a local tradition of the Sénoufo ethnic group, known as “Pôrô.”
