Jurgen Klopp has signed a contract extension with Liverpool, and his new deal with the Reds could have a devastating effect on Chelsea’s summer transfer plans. The German boss, who took charge at Anfield in October 2015, has secured a future on the red half of Merseyside until 2026.

Klopp and his staff were already tied down until 2024, but they have now prolonged said agreements by two years. The Liverpool boss’ deal surfaces days after the club registered an initial interest in Blues transfer target Aurélien Tchouameni, according to FootMercato.

The report claims that the 22-year-old is interested in the prospect of a switch to the Premier League. The France international was on Thomas Tuchel’s transfer shopping list at the start of the season, but the board opted against signing him because they felt the he could’ve done with another 12 months of development, as per The Athletic.

Football.london understand that Chelsea have spent more time watching the Monaco midfielder than any other club, with Liverpool’s apparent interest in him handing the west Londoners a major blow to their efforts. Now, with Klopp’s future secured amid the Blues’ ongoing uncertainty due to the takeover saga, the Reds look to have cashed in a bargaining chip ahead of negotiations.

Tchouameni will not be cheap, though, despite there being just over two years left on his contract. According to a report from Marca, via the Daily Mail, earlier this year, Monaco are demanding £83million for their prized asset.

Chelsea currently have N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, who are 31 and 30 respectively, whose futures at the club are uncertain. The Blues duo both see their contracts at Stamford Bridge expire at the end of next season and could look to move away from west London in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Juventus have taken the first step towards signing Jorginho in the summer transfer window, according to reports. The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move back to the Serie A.

According to Calciomercato, the Old Lady have made ‘first contact’ with the Italian in recent days. The report claims that Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is planning a ‘revolution’, and Jorginho is part of his plans to reassert the club’s dominance.
