The Lagos State Chapter of Accord Party has pleaded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare the late Chief Moshood Abiola as president-elect posthumously following the outcome of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Elections

In a statement signed by the party chairman, Dele Oladeji, the party also requested that Tinubu should likewise release the official result of the June 12, 1993 election, and also present an insignia of office alongside all necessary compensation to the late Abiola’s family.

“The June 12 debacle has come of age. and should stop being a day when we all commiserate and rue the ills of that election, the loss to lives and property, and become a celebratory day.

“To be a celebratory day like the Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it has to become a memory that conjures national happiness and joy in all Nigerians and every lover of democracy.

“We hereby passionately request President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dispense justice on the June 12 Debacle.

“He should;
Release the official result of the June 12 election. declare late Chief MKO Abiola as president, and give insignia of office of the president and necessary compensation to the Abiola’s family.

“This request, if fulfilled, will boost the confidence, hope, and faith of Nigerians and the world in the democratic governance in Nigeria and also in President Bola Tinubu.

“It will also bolster huge public faith and trust in the judicial and justice system and processes in Nigeria.

“This year is the best time to do this, more soo, when the active actors of the June 12 Debacle are still alive, though in old age.

“Ex-president Ibahim Badamosi Babangida, who annulled the election is still alive.
Prof. Maurice Iwu, who was the INEC chairman that midwife the election, is still alive.

“Mr. President, Profesor Wole Soyinka, Dele Momodu, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and a host of other active actors are still alive, too.

“This year is the best time to dispence justice on The June 12 Debacle, and President Bola Tinubu, as a victim, agitator, who also went into exile for this is the best person to dispense justice.”
