Journalists Condemns Amokachi’s Attack On Colleagues

Nigeria journalists covering the 34th Edition of the Africa cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire have expressed their displeasure with Daniel Amokachi following his attitude towards a female journalist in Abidjan.
Daniel Amokachi a member of the victorious Super Eagles 1994 AFCON winning squad who was amongst legends invited by the confederation of Africa football (CAF) for the lunching of ‘CAF Kick and Learn’ a program put together with local schools which is aimed at creating awareness on the importance of combining football and education in the continent and also giving the kids the opportunity of meeting with their hero’s.
Daniel Amokachi who was amongst the top African football legends at event was met by journalists for an interview and was afterwards asked to introduce himself an action which got the former Africa football of the year infuriated as he lashed out at the journalist in his words “You see, that is what I always hate about, the first question is to introduce yourself, why should I introduce myself? You already know who I am, if you write my name down you already know who I am, so what do you want to know? He said.
Meanwhile the response didn’t sit well with some journalists as they explained that every interviewee is always meant to introduce himself no matter whoever he or she is.
This writer believes the introduction could further help us to know the right pronunciation of your names.
This has however become a trend with coaches and stakeholders in the country who get angry anytime they are being asked to introduce himself.
With the recent being Coach Kabiru Dogo of Kwara United who lashed out at journalists who had asked him to introduce himself in Kano after their 2-1 defeat to Kano Pillars in one of their Nigeria’s premier football league clash recently.
