Joe Igbokwe speaks on link between Biafra killings and Peter Obi’s ambition

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Drainage and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe, who is a former spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, on Saturday, questioned how people of Nigeria’s southeast region will “reconcile” killings ‘in the name of Biafra’ with Peter Obi’s presidential hope.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in respect of the 2023 election.

Nnewi-born Igbokwe has repeatedly expressed worry over killings in the South East, recalling that several appeals he made in the past to some prominent Igbo leaders to condemn the alleged violent activities of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were ignored.

“We have been killing our people in the name of Biafra and now our son, Peter Obi is contesting to be president of Nigeria. How can we reconcile this bikonu?” Igbokwe wrote on his known Facebook page.

Obi was the vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He resigned from the party in May.
