Jang Builds Altar: What will I be remembered for- Fmr. President Jonathan asks
By Pwanagba Agabus, Jos
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that by building an altar for the worship of God, Sen. Jonah Jang has taught them a big lesson.
He also said he was beginning ask himself, what he would do before he dies, and what he would be remembered for.
Jonathan stated this in Jos at the dedication of 10 Commandments Prayer Altar built by Yeshua Kingdom Foundation International;
which was dedicated by President of Church Of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Rev. Dachollom Datiri.
He said, “Is a lesson for for all of us, although not everybody can mobilize resources to build this kind of altar, but in your little ways you can build altars in different forms.
“He has taught us a big lesson and I have been scratching my head that what should I do before I die. What will I be remembered for?” he asked.
The former President added that Jang is following the footsteps of former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon (rtd) defending and uniting through prayers.
Jonathan maintained that Jang like Gowon, fought war with gun and guntlet and was now using a mightier weapon, the Bible to fight spiritual wars.
‘I remember when I was a Deputy Governor and we received Yakubu Gowon in Yenagoa. I told him that you use the gun and gauntlet to fight, to defend the country to keep us together.
“Haven dropped the gun, you have carried a mightier weapon, that is the Bible and you are using it bring Nigeria together through Nigeria Praise gospel.
“Jang like Gowon was a fine soldier who use the gun and gauntlet to keep Nigeria one.
“Then of course he was a governor during military, became a civilian governor, went to senate to serve us,” he said.
Jonathan further stated that Jang was not fulfilled and by the grace of God he has a vision to build the facility for prayer which is quite unique.
“You can do a number of things but when you die, what will you be remembered for?
“As a governor, he has done so many things like building of roads, schools among others but this is the most important thing that he has done”.
Earlier in his address, Jang, who is the President of Yeshua Kingdom Foundation International(NKFI) said that the vision to build a place where prayers and worship would be offered to the Lord was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The former Governor maintained that the place will avail Christians a platform to cry unto the Lord for the many ills that bedevil Plateau and Nigeria as a whole today.
“Our peace, prosperity, unity, health, indivisibility as a nation is in the place of prayer and as Christians, we must pray into existence the very things we want our Father to make happen in our dear country”.
He said that he was grateful to God that the Ten Commandments tablets have been completed, prayer rooms and the international altar was ready and the pool of Bethsaida.
“The 5800 seater arena is ready and fully equipped with sound system and lighting in place.
“To complement the facilities for the smooth operation of Yeshua Kingdom Foundation International, the Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) located nearby has donated all its chalets, hostels, clinic and workshops to YKFI to boost needed resourcesbase for the ministry’s operations,” he added.
