IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL CENTRAL ZONE SPEARHEADS INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEAVERS WITH JAMB FORMS AND UNIVERSITY ADMISSION AT IJAW HOUSE TODAY WITH THE THEME “INVESTING IN EDUCATION”.
Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone, led by Comr Ineife Perekosufa, has initiated a groundbreaking campaign to provide JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) forms for secondary school leavers and support them throughout the admission process till they gain entrance into universities. This laudable project aims to improve access to tertiary education for young individuals from diverse backgrounds within the Ijaw nation.
Ensuring Equal Opportunities for all,the Ijaw Youth Council recognizes that lack of access to quality education can be a significant hurdle for aspiring students, particularly those from low-income families. The council believes that every child deserves an equal opportunity to pursue their dreams, and this initiative reflects their commitment to fostering educational excellence within the Ijaw nation.
Procuring JAMB Forms
To kickstart the program, the Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone purchased 120 JAMB forms for secondary school leavers across various local government areas. These forms represent the first step towards admission into universities in Nigeria.
Furthermore, beyond the provision of JAMB forms, the Council recognizes the need for guidance and mentorship to navigate the complex university admission process. Volunteers from the Ijaw Youth Council will assist the students in selecting appropriate subjects, filling out forms, and preparing for the JAMB examination. This assistance will enhance the students’ chances of securing admission into universities and pursuing their desired fields of study.
Also, Council has made a position of supporting the two best students from the JAMB exam with finance for their school clearance and subsequent payment of their respective 100 level school fees.
Collaboration with Secondary Schools and Education Boards,
The Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone has also engaged in collaborative efforts with secondary schools and local education boards to streamline the application process. Through these partnerships, council representatives will liaise with school authorities and education officials to ensure that eligible students are identified, and timely submission of JAMB forms is facilitated.
Recognizing that the costs associated with higher education can be burdensome for many families, the Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone has urged local businesses, community members, and well-meaning individuals to contribute to the initiative. These donations will help cover additional expenses, such as textbooks, boarding fees, and other necessary resources for successful university admission.
To ensure the effectiveness and impact of the initiative, the Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone will establish a monitoring and evaluation framework. Through regular follow-ups, the council will track the progress of the students, assess challenges faced during the admission process, and provide necessary support and resources to address any barriers encountered.
Under the competent leadership of Comr Ineife Perekosufa, the Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone is making commendable strides towards enhancing educational opportunities for secondary school leavers within the Ijaw nation.
By providing JAMB forms and guiding students through the university admission process, the council aims to empower the next generation of Ijaw youths and contribute to the overall development of the region. With the continued support of partners, this initiative will undoubtedly create transformative change and open doors to higher education for countless deserving students.
