A former hotel manager has warned guests to never leave their toothbrushes out in their rooms when they aren’t using them.

Melly, who posts online under the username @melly_creations, is known for sharing tips and tricks from her days of being a manager of a hotel.

But in a recent video, she shocked fans after she shared the stomach-churning reason why you should not leave your toothbrush out in the hotel bathroom – especially if you have been rude to staff.

In the clip, which has gained more than 3,000 views, she said: “Here’s why you should not be rude to hotel staff.

“When turning your room while you’re staying in a hotel, I have heard of housekeepers who clean certain areas in bathrooms with a guest’s toothbrush that you don’t want to have near your mouth.

“Keep your toothbrush packed away just to avoid any situation like this.”

However, she added that she “had never done it and would fire staff” if she found out they had done it.

TikTok users were left sickened by the warning as they took to the comments to give their opinions.

One user wrote: “In all my years of travel, I never once thought about this, Thank you.”

Another simply said: “My toothbrush is always packed away.”

A third added: “Oh my gosh, yuck! Thanks for sharing this.”

“All my years of working as a housekeeper, I’ve not known a person to do this… yikes. I didn’t ever touch someone’s personal stuff,” a fourth commented.

The news comes after a hotel manager left jaws on the floor with his surprising response to a guest’s TripAdvisor review.

The worker, who runs Hotel Doolin, in Western Ireland, replied on the reviews website after their staff was called “deceitful” and “snarling”.

The manager joked about the disgruntled guests comments and claimed they hadn’t shared the full picture.
