Gov. Diri welcome 1,977 Corps members, ac acknowledges potentials for positive in Bayelsa

Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri has welcomed 1,977 Corps members to the state as part of the 2025 Batch A , Stream 2 corps members deployed to the state.

Gov. Diri also acknowledged government believe in corps members potentials to drive change that will positively impact on their host communities.

Gov. Diri, who made this known during the opening/ swearing – in ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, said corps members have always been part and parcel of the developmental strides of the state government.

Gov. Diri, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Alfred Kemepado Nimizigha, assured that the state government would continue to support the objectives of the Service Corps and thanked the management of the scheme in the state for working tirelessly to achieve the laudable cardinal programmes of the scheme.

He further promised to sustain corps members security and welfare packages and enjoined them to avoid actions that would tarnish the image of the nation, their families and the NYSC.

He wished them a fruitful service year in the state and declared the 2025 Batch A, Stream 2 service year opened.

Earlier In her welcome remarks, the State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity highlighted that 1,977 prospective corps members were deployed to Bayelsa state for the one – year mandatory national service.

She thanked the special guest of honour, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa, collaborating partners and other distinguished guests for their presence.

She highlighted the objectives of the orientation course and advised corps members deployed to the state to embrace the service year with all the seriousness it deserves because careful and deliberate programmes have been well designed to adequately prepare and equip them for optimum performance.

She enjoined them to shune all forms of social vices and actions detrimental to the image of the scheme during orientation course and in their various places of primary assignments .

She specially thanked the Executive Governor of Bayelsa state Senator Douye Diri for his immense support to NYSC.
