Final Farewell: Fred Agbedi, Wife, Heineken, Amule, Others Honour Late Ekeremor Monarch.
Prominent leaders and dignitaries gathered in Ekeremor Town on Saturday, April 11, 2026, to pay their final respects to the late Amananaowei of Ekeremor Federated Community, His Royal Highness King Agbodo Gbaseimor (JP), the Oguru Bebe Kene Kuro-Agbe XVIII.
Among those in attendance was Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D., who arrived alongside his wife, Rtd. CSP Ebi Agbedi, to honour the revered monarch. The solemn ceremony drew a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders, reflecting the late king’s far-reaching influence.
Representing the Governor of Bayelsa State, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Administration, Hon. Chief Thompson Amule, described the late monarch as a visionary and dedicated ruler. He noted that King Agbodo Gbaseimor was deeply committed to the development of his community and played a significant role in supporting other kingdoms in nurturing strong and effective traditional leadership.
During tribute presentation, Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi eulogised the late king as a seasoned diplomat and a steadfast advocate of noble causes. He highlighted the monarch’s unwavering support for the coronation of fellow traditional rulers and his ability to foster unity among his chiefs. According to him, the late king’s diplomatic approach to governance was instrumental in maintaining peace and stability within the Ekeremor Kingdom.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, a native of the area, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the monarch as a father whose legacy would endure for generations. He also contributed significantly to the burial arrangements, ensuring a befitting memorial in honour of the late royal father.
Other dignitaries present included members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, such as Hon. Living Mitin and Hon. Tari Porri, representing Constituencies One and Two respectively, alongside several other notable personalities.
The event was marked by heartfelt tributes, cultural displays, and a collective celebration of the life and legacy of a monarch remembered for his wisdom, diplomacy, and enduring commitment to his people.
