Female Germany footballer stripped off for Playboy before moving to West Ham
Former West Ham and Bayern Munich midfield star Julia Simic once stripped off for a raunchy Playboy shoot just before Germany hosted the Women’s World Cup back in 2011
Julia Simic left a lasting impression during her short stint at West Ham back in 2018 – but she set pulses racing back in the early years of her career by stripping off for Playboy with a host of ex-teammates.
Simic, 33, was part of a group of German internationals who posed for a raunchy cover shoot of the infamous magazine back in 2011. At the time, Simic was on the books of Bayern Munich, along with Annika Doppler and Ivana Rudelic, who also took part in the controversial shoot.
With the Women’s World Cup due to be held in Germany back in 2011, five players from the national were featured in a sexy shoot by Playboy to hype up the tournament – and they certainly left a lasting impression.
Selina Wagner and Kristina Gessat were the other two women who took part in the shoot, back when the quintet were on the cusp of breaking into the senior fold for Germany. However, there was some commotion after neither the player’s clubs or the German Football Association were informed about the idea.
Explaining the shoot back in 2011, Kristina Gessat told The Local: “With these photos, we want to disprove the cliche that all female footballers are butch.”
Unfortunately, the shoot didn’t bring Germany much luck, as they were eliminated from their home tournament at the quarter-final stage.
