Felix Auger-Aliassime has admitted that he may skip Dubai after two strong weeks in Rotterdam and Marseille. Auger-Aliassime, 21, captured his first ATP title after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Rotterdam final. Last week, Auger-Aliassime played in Marseille, where he made the final before losing to Andrey Rublev.

Auger-Aliassime played nine over the last two weeks and there is a chance he decides against making his Dubai debut this week. Auger-Aliassime was drawn to meet Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Dubai first round.

“I have to see about the next weeks,” Auger-Aliassime said. “I have to talk about Dubai with the team, I haven’t taken a decision yet.”

Auger-Aliassime wants to be wise with his scheduling

Auger-Aliassime felt a big relief after winning his first ATP title in Rotterdam.

Auger-Aliassime now may decide to take two weeks off before returning to action at the Indian Wells Masters. Auger-Aliassime is establishing himself as a top-10 player and now he wants to make strong results at the Masters events.

“Yes, the calendar is full and I have to make strategic choices, be clever with my calendar. My goal is to be better at the Masters 1000s, so the next big one for me is Indian Wells,” Auger-Aliassime explained. Auger-Aliassime competed well against Rublev but the Russian escaped with a 7-5 7-6 (4) win to win Marseille.

Rublev now leads the head-to-head against Auger-Aliassime 3-1. “All the battles I have had with Felix since the first time back in 2018 have had drama,” Rublev said in his on-court interview. “All have had at least one set that went 7-6 and now he is one of the greatest players.

Especially this season, he is on top now. It was a pleasure to share a court with him and have an amazing final like this”.
