Enugu Rangers' bus attacked in Jos

Players and coaching staff of Enugu Rangers sustained injuries on Sunday following an attack on their team bus after the 0-0 draw with Plateau United in Jos.

The assault on the Flying Antelopes reportedly took place just over two kilometers from the Jos International Stadium, with thugs said to have been responsible for the violent incident.

Images posted on social media showed team members wounded and bleeding, with Rangers general manager Amobi Ezeaku describing the attack as “unwarranted”.

Ezeaku confirmed that the club have petitioned the relevant authorities to mete out justice to the perpetrators and assured supporters that the necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the team.

“We wish to inform you about the unfortunate incident that occurred during our match against Plateau United in Jos. The attack on our team was unwarranted, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served,” Ezeaku said in a statement.

“A petition has been submitted to the relevant authorities, and we will not rest until this issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.

“Under this administration, the symbol of our great club must never be disrespected, and we will go to any length to preserve its honour and legacy. Our commitment to upholding the values and pride of Rangers is unwavering.

“We are determined to see this through. We cannot accept this kind of violence, and we’ll take every necessary step to ensure accountability and protection for our players and staff.”
