Eguavoen Confident of Bayelsa Grassroots Coaches

‎...Hails Gov Diri's Continuous Support for Prosperity Cup

‎Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, Augustine Eguavoen says he is confident that the grassroots coaches taking part in the ongoing NFF-D Licence Coaching Course in Yenagoa will become great managers in the future.

‎Eguavoen dropped the hint while speaking with newsmen shortly after the theoretical session of day-two of the ongoing NFF-D Licence coaching course in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

‎The exercise which is being organized by the Prosperity Cup in collaboration with the Bayelsa State Football Association, will run from the 11th through the 15th of March, 2026 at the Golden Tulip Apartments and Resort, Onopa.

‎Eguavoen noted that the exercise would play a significant role in the development of grassroots coaches in the State, maintaining that he is confident that coaches from the exercise will be great gaffers in the future.

‎According to him, the NFF-D Licence course is aimed at improving their technical and tactical knowledge of the game, urging other States in the country to emulate Bayelsa State by investing in grassroots coaches.

‎The former Super Eagles captain commended the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri for the consistency in the Prosperity Cup, maintaining that the tournament has become the pride of grassroots football in the nation.

‎He asserted that due to the governor’s passion for grassroots football, many players have been exposed through the tournament, pointing out that some players from the last edition of the Prosperity Cup were invited for trials at the U-20 national team.

‎The NFF-D Licence course will enter day three on Friday with the theory session coming up in the morning by 9.00am while the practical aspect will be at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
