EASTER: PDP South South Scribe, George Turnah, Calls for Peace, Unity and Renewed National Purpose

As Christians across the globe commemorate the death and triumphant resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Zonal Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), South South Zone, and the leader of the NEW Associates in Bayelsa State, Barr. Alabh George Turnah Esq., MON, has extended warm Easter greetings to Nigerians, particularly the good people of the South South region and Bayelsa State.

In his Easter message made available to the press through his Media Assistant, Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, the PDP Zonal Scribe described the Easter season as a divine reminder of sacrificial love, hope beyond despair, and the power of renewal. He noted that the resurrection of Christ is the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolizing victory over darkness, and should inspire citizens to rise above divisions and work towards a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

Barr. Turnah called on Nigerians, especially the leaders at all levels, to reflect deeply on the very essence of the season, a season that speaks of the ultimate price paid to redeem humanity. According to him, “Easter should renew our consciousness about service to humanity, love for one another, peace, sacrifice, and the unwavering commitment to the common good. It is a call to eschew hatred, bitterness and all that divides us as a people.”

He emphasized the urgent need for national unity, solidarity, and a reinvigorated sense of collective responsibility. “As we celebrate Easter, may we remember that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, equity, and purposeful governance,” he said.

While felicitating with the people of the South South region, Barr. Turnah reaffirmed his faith in the potential of the region to emerge as a beacon of socio-economic development in the country. He called on all stakeholders, community leaders, youths, women, and civil society groups to rally around well-meaning movements or associations that are committed to the overall development and wellbeing of the region.

“As the leader of the NEW Associates in Bayelsa, we shall continue to champion ideas, initiatives and partnerships that align with the values of peace, progress, and people-first leadership. I urge our people to lend support to any cause that seeks to unify and advance our collective interest,” he stated.

Barr. Turnah also used the opportunity to offer his heartfelt prayers for the peace and stability of Nigeria. He prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all leaders across the federal, state and local government levels, that God may grant them wisdom, courage, and the grace to lead with integrity and vision.

“May this Easter season birth a renewed spirit of compassion, resilience and national rebirth. May our leaders be guided by the principles of justice, equity and service. May the people of Bayelsa and the entire South South zone experience peace, healing and all-round progress in every sphere,” he concluded.

He further urged all Nigerians to celebrate in moderation, remain law-abiding, and extend hands of kindness and fellowship to one another, especially to the less privileged and vulnerable among us.

Once again, the Zonal Secretary of the PDP South South Zone and Leader of the NEW Associates in Bayelsa, Barr. Alabh George Turnah Esq., MON, wishes everyone a Happy Easter filled with hope, joy, and renewed purpose.
