Director of Sports Salutes Gov Diri on Second Term Inauguration

 

Director of Sports Bayelsa State Sports Council Sir Braveman Wodi on behalf of the Sports Council has congratulated Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on the occasion of their second term Inauguration.

Sir Wodi in a statement, said the victory was well-deserved on account of his outstanding performance in the last four years, noting that the people’s power, as expressed during the poll, remained the most potent force in any democracy.

According to him, the governor’s second term in office will herald even greater progress and development for the state especially the sports sector where Bayelsa has become a force to reckon with, stating that the unprecedented achievements of the Prosperity administration speaks volume of the governor’s love for sports.

The statement hails the governor’s passion for the development of sports as well as giving priority to the welfare of athletes which according to him is a tonic that has lifted the soul of every athlete in Bayelsa to compete with their peers favourably within and outside the country.

Sir Wodi notes that sports in the last four years has given the Prosperity administration positive publicity with the state finishing second in the last National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State, Bayelsa defending their crown in the National Para Games, Bayelsa Queens finishing third in the CAF women’s champions league, Bayelsa United returning to the NPFL also Aiteo Cup triumph by both teams.

The statement further highlights the achievements of the governor in the sector with Blessing Oborodudu giving Nigeria the only silver medal in the last Olympic in Tokyo, Japan. With the period, Bayelsa State has also produced many National champions in the mould of Tima Godless, Bomo Kigigha and Deborah Quickpen amongst others. He described the governor’s achievements in sports as a perfect definition of his prosperity mantra.

The Odi born sports administrator eulogised Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for rewarding the physically challenged athletes who made the state proud in the second National Para Games in Abuja.
