Operatives of Delta State Police Command, yesterday, invaded a baby factory in Okpanam community,  Oshimili North Local Council of the state and arrested 29- year-old Aruna Sulieman and one Promise Ejogu, suspected to be operators of the centre.

The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe told The Guardian in Asaba that three pregnant women were rescued at the  baby factory located somewhere in Obodogba community, Okpanam, near Asaba, the state capital.

According to Edafe, the police acted on information received on July 10, at about 0730hours to effect the arrest of Promise Ejogu,  a brother to the ring leader of the syndicate, who engages in sexual activities with these women to get them pregnant.

He said the suspects are in custody while effort is on to arrest other members of the syndicate. He was however silent about the whereabouts of the rescued pregnant women.

Edafe also confirmed the arrest of 25 suspected cultists at Zion road, Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Council. He said: “Ibusa Police  Station got information that men of Black Axe Confraternity, also known as ‘AYES’ ,  were having their initiation ceremony at Zion Road Ibusa.

“And following the information, police joint team of the State Anti-Cult (SACU), Ibusa Division and local vigilantes swung into action, and raided their hideout, where 25 male suspects were arrested.

“Recovered from them are three Aye confraternity regalias, one military vest,  a pair of Aye confraternity stockings,  three cut-to-size locally made guns, four live cartridges,  a gallon of substances suspected to be liquid hard drugs, four vehicles, and four motorcycles”.

ALSO, the Area Command, Asaba, has arrested 10 suspected cultists and recovered one fabricated AK47 rifle, charms, fake Vigilante Identity card  and AC&DC Black Axe confraternity regalia.

“ The police received intelligence reports on some suspected cultists hibernating somewhere in Mile 5, a boundary between Oshimili North and Oshimili South Local Councils, who were planning to attack innocent citizens in the area.

“The Area Commander alerted the Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, who ordered a massive raid in the area and a combined team comprising of raiders squad, operatives from GRA Division and Area Command,  Asaba, led by the Area Crime officer, Kufre Udofia, stormed the hideout and arrested them,” Edafe added.
