Corps members in Bayelsa hold rally against Drug Abuse, reach out to addicts

Hundreds of Corps members deployed to Bayelsa State under the 2025 Batch A Stream II programmed have staged a rally against Drug abuse in the State, urging those already addicted that they are not alone in the struggle to recover from addiction.
The rally, tagged WAR AGAINST DRUG ABUSE (WADA),held in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among youths, particularly corps members.

The State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity. represented by the Camp Director, Mr. Rotimi Abiodun, commended the NDLEA’s efforts and urged all corps members to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign and support the WADA initiative.
The sensitization rally began after a brief sensitization lecture at the camp pavilion delivered by Mrs. Alatari Rose, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and the rally took corps members from the pavilion through the camp Parade grounds to the Camp Market where the Head of NDLEA on Camp continued sensitizing participants.
She explained the significance of the inscriptions given to corps members, which included powerful quotes such as “Make informed choices”, “say no to drugs”, “the high is temporary; the consequences are permanent” “addiction is a thief — stealing lives and futures” and “recovery is a choice — believe in yourself”
She warned strongly against the use of harmful substances including marijuana, cannabis, crystal meth, and brownies laced with drugs, “Substance abuse is a dead-end street. Don’t let drugs steal your destiny,”
The Head of NDLEA on Camp, Mrs. Rose addressed Mami Market vendors, urging them not to sell any form of drugs to corps members, reiterating that addiction destroys lives and futures.
Speaking to corps members in the recovery process, Mrs. Rose encouraged them not to give up. “You are not alone in the struggle. That is why we are here to help you overcome it. Read about the consequences of drug abuse and stay determined,” she said
The rally concluded with Camp Director expressing appreciation to all for the active participation. He advised camp participants to reflect on the powerful messages shared during the rally and apply them to their personal lives.
