Cobhams Asuquo, Award-Winning Music Producer, To Perform At Nigerian Idol Season 6 Grand Finale

Cobhams Asuquo, one of Africa’s finest producers, has been confirmed as a headline act for the live performance at the grand finale of Nigerian Idol Season 6, Africa’s biggest music talent show.

After 12 weeks of electrifying music performances and nonstop excitement, Nigerian Idol Season 6 will wrap up with a live show which airs by 7pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021. The online polls have closed, and by the end of the night, the viewing public will find out who wins the competition, and ultimately walks away with N50 million naira worth of prizes.

Cobhams Asuquo was born on January 6, 1981. In the early 2000s, he produced some of Nigeria’s popular hits, including Djinee’s “Ego” and Maintain’s “Catching Cold.” He achieved global recognition when he produced and co-wrote the songs on Asa’s self-titled debut album, released in 2008. He has since collaborated with some of Nigeria’s top acts, including Waje, Omawummi, Timi Dakolo and Banky W, among others. He has also released a few singles of his own, including “Ordinary People”, “Star Of Wonder”, “Boosit” (featuring Falz) and “One Hit.”

Other artistes scheduled to perform at this season’s finale include fast-rising pop artiste Ayra Starr, serial hitmaker Patoranking, and high-flying RnB artiste Chike.

The winner of Nigerian Idol Season 6 will walk away with a recording deal of a six-track EP, with music video shoots for three of the songs, and over 50 million Naira worth of prizes which include a ₦30 million cash prize and a brand new SUV. A breakdown of the other prizes reveals a BIGI branded refrigerator and one year supply of BIGI soft drinks from Rites Food Limited, an all-expense-paid trip to Seychelles and a wide range of TECNO products, a weekend getaway package to Dubai for two from TravelBeta, and a DStv Explora fully installed with a 12-month DStv Premium subscription package.
