Chilwell Shines With 9, Jorginho Picks Up 8 | Chelsea Players Rated In Victory Vs Crystal Palace
Premier League giants Chelsea got back to winning ways today after an impressive 4-0 victory against Roy Hodgson’s dangerous Crystal Palace side. As was expected, the Blues started the game well in the ascendancy, as Crystal Palace sat back and looked to play on the break. Despite having a lacklustre first-half, Palace weren’t able to get forward and threaten Mendy’s goal at any point during the tie. Chelsea came racing out of the blocks in the second half, as goals from Ben Chilwell, Kurt Zouma and two Jorginho penalties ensured that the West London club kept all three points.
Here Are The Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Crystal Palace:
Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Crystal Palace
Edouard Mendy – 7
The Frenchman commanded the box well and made his voice heard whenever a cross was played into the area. A couple of good collections but was never really threatened by the Palace attack.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
The skipper was given the nod ahead of Reece James in attack, as he completely neutralised the dangerous threat of Eze. Got forward and played in a couple of decent crosses into the box too.
Thiago Silva – 8
The Brazilian veteran was composed with his passing and was never put under too much pressure by the Eagles. Made a couple of vital blocks and offered his leadership when required as well.
Kurt Zouma – 8
The big Frenchman expertly partnered Thiago Silva in defence, and it was his goal that led to the Blues doubling their advantage. Composed in the heart of defence and made some good tackles too.
Ben Chilwell – 9
The Englishman was nothing short of sensational on his debut as he ran riot down that left flank. Was allowed space to run into by Werner’s positioning, and marked the game with a goal.
Jorginho – 8
The Italian passmaster controlled the tempo of the game for the entirety of the ninety. Never looked flustered on the ball and slotted home both his penalties in supremely composed fashion.
N’Golo Kante – 6.5
The Frenchman misplaced the odd pass over the course of the ninety and didn’t look as fluent as some of the other Chelsea outfielders. Did make some crucial tackles in midfield though.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – 7.5
The speedster offered Chelsea a different dimension in attack with his directness. Was never afraid to take on his man and played in some decent crosses to release the forwards as well.
Kai Havertz – 7.5
The German’s general movement and positioning were sublime, as he seems to simply glide across the pitch. Picked up some dangerous attacking positions and won the Blues’ second penalty.
Timo Werner – 7
The former Leipzig man didn’t have his most influential game in attack, but he linked up well with the likes of Havertz and Chilwell. Can be even more dangerous if deployed down the middle.
Tammy Abraham – 6.5
The Englishman linked up the play rather efficiently, but couldn’t get on the scoresheet despite having a couple of decent chances. Looked frustrated that he couldn’t take the second penalty.
