Following the emergence of Governor Douye Diri as the winner of the Bayelsa State governorship election, the Honourable commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Champion Daniel Igali has congratulated Senator Douye Diri and his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on re-election.
Champion Igali in a statement issued on Monday by his Media Assistant, Promise Okotoko, attributed Governor Diri’s victory to the will of the people of Bayelsa, following his leadership achievements in the past four years.
The former Lawmaker described Governor Diri’s victory as well deserved and victory for democracy and the good people of Bayelsa.
Champion Igali commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for upholding the people’s will despite reported pressure to unduly influence the outcome of the poll.
“I extend my warm felicitations your excellency on your well-deserved victory in the just concluded Bayelsa gubernatorial election. For those of us who have keenly followed your giant strides in Bayelsa State, your victory did not come as a surprise.
“Your re-election therefore, represents a bold and emphatic testimony to the good work you have done in the past four years,” said the Honourable commissioner.
