Easter: CAN Chairman Urges Christians to Show Sacrificial Love, Reaffirm Faith in Nigeria’s Future

Vineyard Church Marks 38th Anniversary
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State chapter, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has urged Christians to demonstrate selfless love and unity as the nation marks the Easter season.
Speaking at the recently concluded Destiny 2026 conference in Lagos, Adegbite said the essence of Easter should reflect in acts of compassion, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to national cohesion.
“We must love our country selflessly and support our leaders in prayer. Peace will reign, and every storm shall be subdued,” he said, dismissing predictions of doom about Nigeria’s future.
The four-day conference, themed “A Time of Refreshing in His Presence,” also marked the 38th anniversary of Vineyard Christian Ministries Inc.
Delivering his message, the Presiding Bishop of Vineyard Christian Ministries, Archbishop John Osa-Oni, called on Christians to cultivate a deliberate and deep relationship with God.
“You must be intentional in your desire to know God. It is not a casual relationship but a commitment to dwell in His presence for true refreshing,” Osa-Oni told the congregation.
He added that abiding in God’s presence brings peace, rest, and preservation, even in difficult times. “When you secure the presence of God, you secure life,” he said.
In her message, the Coordinator of the Lagos State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Women’s Wing, Apostle Josephine Femi-Asiwaju, encouraged believers to remain steadfast in their faith.
“Even if your character is faulty or you are weary, stay in His presence. That is where identity, strength, and comfort are found,” she urged.
The conference drew church leaders and worshippers from across Lagos, emphasizing faith, hope, and spiritual renewal in the spirit of Easter.
