Buhari, Jonathan attend Tinubu’s Council of State meeting in Aso Rock

Ex-Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan were in Aso Rock on Tuesday to attend the first National Council of State meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Two other former Heads of State, retired Generals Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar, as well as Governors of Abia, Adamawa and Akwa Ibom States, also joined the meeting.
The Council of State is the highest advisory body of the federal government to the presidency on policymaking.
The Council comprises of President as chairman and Vice president as deputy chairman, all living former Heads of State and Presidents, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, the President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, all State Governors, the FCT Minister and the Attorney-General of the Federation as members.
The meeting which began is addressed pressing national issues, including food security, national security, and economic policies, even as seven Ministers were invited to join and make presentations to the Council.
The last Council of State meeting was held on February 10, 2023, under former President Buhari.
