Buhari Flags Off NNPC Wadi-B Well Drilling In Borno Tuesday
President Muhammadu Buhari is set to flag off crude oil drilling campaign of the Wadi-B Well in Borno State, this Tuesday.
The Wadi B well located in Jere local government area of Borno State, 50 kilometres away from Maiduguri, is said to have lots of prospects.
According to the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Wells have total depth of 14,000 feet.
The national oil firm also said geologists have seen many potential reservoirs and the company set to prove that the hydrocarbon there could be oil, gas or both.
Seismic Acquisition of the oil well started in 1995, but work on the wells stopped in 2014 due to insurgency.
Giving a background of the project, the NNPC said exploration commenced in 1976 and continued until 1996.
Also, 33,000 km of 2D Seismic data were acquired, processed and interpreted while three prospective sub-basins (Gubio, Maiduguri & Baga/Lake Area) have been identified.
Available data also showed that two wells (Wadi-1 & Kinasar-1) recorded presence of noncommercial gas.
In 2008 – 2018, 1,962.20 km2 3D Seismic data was acquired, processed and interpreted howeve, in 2014 Seismic Acquisition Operations were suspended due to insurgency.
