Bayelsa State Football Association Sponsors Local Coaches for Courses
After leading Krosader FC of Peretorugbene to last year’s Prosperity Cup triumph, the Bayelsa State Football Association has sent coach Genesis Suomokumo to Abuja for the first Nigeria Football Federation NFF D license coaching course.
The FA in a statement by the secretary Mr Diseye Nwankwe, said the need to send Suomokumo to the coaching course became necessary to the NFF education strategy for the development of grassroots coaches and the game of football as well as obtaining a diploma in football coaching courses.
According to the statement, the state football regulatory body has assisted five coaches in Bayelsa to secure their CAF C and CAF license coaching courses which includes Ada Gwegwe, Moses Aduku, Domo Okara, Ebenezer Atayero and Bayelsa United coach Meremu Okara.
Mr. Nwankwe noted that last year November, the Poubeni Ogun led FA sponsored seven coaches to FIFA/NFF Talent Development Scheme which is targeted at discovering and nurturing young football talents in different parts of the world which has, Ada Gwegwe,
Genesis Suomokumo, Douyi Ebiede, Ernest Kelly,Tombiri James, Mere Freeborn and Odiowei Binalayefa.
The statement explains that reporting/registration day is 3rd of March while the course commences on the 4th of March by 8am daily to 9th of March, 2024, registration fees is One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (150.000.00) all the nominated are expected to come with the required equipment and materials.
The FA notes that the program is designed to upgrade the knowledge of grassroots coaches who do not currently have the basic coaching certificate for effective performance, pointing out that there will be flagg-off as pilot scheme project in Abuja, with 37 participants drawn from all the states of the federation and the FCT.
It added that the department intends taking the programme further by organizing the same at the six geo-political zones of Nigeria before the end of 2024.
