Bayelsa: NGO, Do Foundation celebrate founder at 50yrs, unveil domestic violence clinic
A Non-Governmental organisation, Do Foundation has celebrated its founder, Dr. Dise Ogbise Goody Harry on her 50th birthday anniversary with the unveiling of a online Domestic Violence Clinic in Bayelsa State.
The Online Domestic Violence Clinic, according to the Do Foundation, is expected to cater for victims of domestic violence to call in and seek for assistance in tackling issues of abuse and seek immediate assistance in the area of guardiance&counselling, prosecution and treatment
The founder of the Do Foundation, Dr. Dise Ogbise Goody Harry, while speaking at the 50th Birthday celebration and unveiling of the Online Domestic Violence Clinic held at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ), said the clinic was unveiled in partnership with Mrs. Mary Accrah Bekeowei, Nurse Elly Goody, Dr. NUVIE Opeyemi and CPS Grace to embrace internationally recognised best practices at curbing cases of domestic violence.
Dr. Dise Ogbise Goody Harry pointed out that the unveiling of the online domestic violence will enable Bayelsans to call in and report all cases of domestic violence for a switch action to be taken within the ambition of the law.
Dr. Ogbise Goody Harry, who is also a Legal practitioner and Gender advocate, also noted that the unveiling of the online clinic is a great milestone of her 50th Birthday celebration, insisting that it is time for her to take service to humanity to another level.
” The online clinic is power packed,in collaboration with her intervention partners and will be result oriented as the partners here will respond faster to cases of domestic violence due to their track records in intervention on domestic violence cases over time and expertise in dealing with issues.”
“Also, all complaints will be taken online and physical interventions will be done in hospitals provided by our partners.”
She also announced the floating of an online weekly talk show where we will be live every Tuesday at 6pm on the YouTube channels, X (formally Twitter) and other social media platforms to highlight educative stories that will be shared and positive lessons learnt to reduce cases of domestic violence globally.
” The online domestic violence clinic is to depend the fight to combat domestic violence in Nigeria begining with Bayelsa State in recognition of the efforts of the prosperity administration in the last years,as a group,we are open for a robust partnership from individuals,groups and international organisations. It is our desire that domestic violence especially gender based is swept back to the ocean of history in the lowest ebb in no time.
