Bayelsa Lawmaker Fred Agbedi Celebrates Birthday as Wife Pays Stirring Tribute to ‘A Statesman at Home and in Parliament’

As tributes pour in to mark the birthday of Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, his wife, CSP Mrs. Ebi Agbedi, has delivered a heartfelt message celebrating not only his public service but his private devotion to family.
In a moving birthday statement, Mrs. Agbedi described her husband as “a man whose life is a testament to purpose, honour, and enduring impact,” praising his leadership both in Nigeria’s National Assembly and at home.
Agbedi, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties and Leader of the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives, was commended for what his wife called his “steady compass of integrity” and “courageous advocacy” within the legislative chambers.
“In Sagbama and Ekeremor, you are not merely a representative,” she wrote. “You are a guardian of hope, a builder of bridges, and a tireless architect of progress.”
Highlighting his leadership style, Mrs. Agbedi noted that his influence is “not loud, yet powerful; not boastful, yet deeply effective,” adding that his experience and conviction continue to shape conversations that strengthen democracy and uplift constituents.
Beyond the political arena, however, her tribute focused on the man behind the title.
“Beyond the applause and public honour, you are my safe haven,” she wrote. “In our home, you lead not with power, but with patience. Not with pride, but with prayer.”
She described him as a present and guiding father, one who teaches through example and balances discipline with compassion. “You are raising not just a family, but a legacy,” she said.
Concluding her message with prayers for long life, sound health and greater wisdom, Mrs. Agbedi expressed pride in standing beside her husband “today and always,” thanking him for being “a man of honour in public and a man of love in private.”
As he marks another year, the tribute underscores the dual roles Agbedi occupies — as a senior legislator shaping national discourse, and as a husband and father whose influence resonates far beyond the walls of parliament.
