Bayelsa Chapter of The NEW Associates Shifts Inauguration, Mega Rally to April 26

YENAGOA – The Bayelsa State Chapter of The NEW Associates, a grassroots political movement committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration, has announced a change in the date for its official inauguration and mega rally. Initially scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, the event will now hold on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The Lead Convener and Leader of the Bayelsa State Chapter, Barr. George Turnah, MON, disclosed this during a press briefing in Yenagoa on Friday April 11, 2025.
Turnah explained that the decision to shift the date was taken out of respect for notable Ijaw leaders and elders who appealed for a reconsideration, citing the convergence of multiple political gatherings on the original date and venue.
“In light of recent developments, several Pro Diri and Pro Tambuwal groups issued public notices expressing their intentions to hold solidarity rallies on the same date and venue as ours. In deference to peace, order, and the requests of respected Ijaw leaders, we have decided to reschedule our program,” he stated.
Turnah emphasized that The NEW Associates remain a peaceful organization, deeply committed to national unity, peace, security, and the welfare of every Nigerian.
“We believe that the success of President Tinubu’s administration is directly tied to Nigeria’s success. Therefore, we see it as our civic duty to support the Renewed Hope agenda, while also upholding the sanctity of every Nigerian life, Ijaw or otherwise,” he noted.
He expressed gratitude to the Grand Patron, other patrons, matrons, leaders, and members of The NEW Associates across the state for their continued support and understanding, describing them as pillars of the movement.
Turnah also acknowledged the growing interest and enthusiasm of the Bayelsa people and the Ijaw nation in the movement’s vision for the empowerment and liberation of the region.
He concluded by urging all members and supporters to sustain the momentum and intensify preparations for what promises to be a historic outing on the new date.
