Bahrain’s imports up 5% in August
Brazil was among Bahrain’s top three international suppliers last month. The Gulf country mainly bought aluminum oxide, iron ore, and aircraft engine parts abroad.

São Paulo – Bahrain increased imports by 5% in August compared to the same month last year, according to data from the country’s Information and Electronic Government Authority (iGa) released by the official local news agency, Bahrain News Agency (BNA). Purchases totaled BHD 520 million, equivalent to about USD 1.3 billion at the current rate. Pictured above, a ship in Bahrain.
Bahrain’s imports were concentrated in ten leading suppliers, which accounted for 73% of the total in August. China was the Arab country’s foremost source of goods. The Chinese obtained BHD 90 million (about USD 237 million) in sales to Bahrain last month. The second biggest supplier was Australia, with BHD 60 million (approximately USD 158 million), and the third was Brazil, with BHD 49 million (USD 129 million).

The product Bahrain bought the most from abroad in August was aluminum oxide; BHD 58 million (USD 152.8 million). The second main item purchased by the Arab country on the international market was non-agglomerated and concentrated iron ore, with BHD 47 million (USD 123.8 million) in August. The third was parts for aircraft engines; BHD 23 million (USD 60.6 million) in imports last month.
