Earlier this week, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, acknowledged that the organization of the presidential and national assembly elections on February 25 was not “perfect.” At the APC National Working Committee meeting, where he was speaking alongside Bola Tinubu, Senator Kashim Shettima, and members-elect of the National Assembly, Adamu made the remark.

The private meeting took place in Abuja’s State House Banquet Hall and didn’t start until around 2.48 p.m. Shettima, Senator Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan were among the dignitaries spotted at the event.

This development comes a few days after unhappy NWC members demanded his resignation and the party’s reorganization in order to counterbalance the divisive Muslim-Muslim ticket of the next administration, which had caused unrest before the 2023 elections.

At the ceremony, Adamu congratulated all of the elected political officials, adding that after winning the elections on February 25, they deserved to feel victory’s delight.

Nonetheless, the embattled APC chairman acknowledged that there were problems with the polls that led to them. I cordially congratulate all the excellent men and women elected, the speaker remarked. I thank you everyone. You make up the new Nigerian team. Starting on May 29 of this year, you and your team will be responsible for maintaining the peace, harmony, and progress of our country.

“Admitting that the elections held on February 25th were flawed is just and honorable. We did not aim to hold flawless elections. There have never been flawless elections throughout human history. Like every other democratic country, we set out to hold credible, free, and fair elections. We carried it out in this way.

“We accomplished this achievement and fulfilled President Muhammadu Buhari’s pledge to the populace, and I’m glad to say that. For the first time in our elections’ recent history, there were no accusations of vote-buying or public uproar over all the other problems related to the way our elections were conducted. While rigging has been severed, it may still be alive. Along with our democracy, we are evolving.

We chose not to rout the other political parties because they are our partners in our national progress and development. “From the results of the February 25, 2023 general elections announced so far by the electoral umpire, INEC, the APC won the presidency, clean and clear, and a majority in both chambers of the National Assembly.
