AMAC HONOURS RT. HON. FRED AGBEDI WITH STREET NAMING NOMINATION, CITES EXCEPTIONAL NATIONAL IMPACT

Wed. Nov. 19, 2025
Abuja, Nigeria – The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has bestowed a prestigious national honour on Rt. Hon. (Chief) Frederick Yeitiemone Agbedi, Ph.D, member representing Sagbama / Ekeremor Federal Constituency, nominating him for the naming of a street within the Abuja Municipality in recognition of his unparalleled service to Nigeria’s democratic and developmental progress.
In the official communication issued by the AMAC Street Naming and House Numbering Office, Hon. Agbedi was unanimously selected among eminent national leaders for what the Council described as “a distinct honour reserved for icons whose contributions have significantly shaped national growth.”
The Council emphasised that Rt. Hon. Agbedi’s nomination rests purely on merit, pointing to his visionary leadership, patriotic commitment, and decades-long public service that continue to leave enduring imprints on governance and national development.
As the former Chairman, House Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, Rt. Hon. Agbedi spearheaded reforms that strengthened grassroots administration across the FCT. Under his leadership, the Committee championed improved local governance structures, enhanced rural development initiatives, and promoted policies that elevated the welfare of residents of the six Area Councils.

His tenure was widely commended for fostering transparency, improved oversight, and people-focused development across the Federal Capital Territory’s local government system—efforts that have continued to impact communities positively.
Currently serving as the Chairman, House Committee on Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Agbedi plays a central role in coordinating strategic national interventions, emergency responses, and key federal programmes. His leadership in this committee has bolstered national resilience, improved government intervention mechanisms, and strengthened Nigeria’s capacity to respond to pressing socio-economic needs.
Lawmakers and policy analysts have consistently described him as one of the most experienced and reliable voices in Nigeria’s legislature, celebrated for his maturity, statesmanship, and unwavering dedication to the public good.
AMAC noted that the FCT, “the epitome of Nigeria’s corporate existence,” reserves street naming for individuals whose legacies are worthy of permanent national remembrance.
“The intent behind naming streets after achievers is to immortalise their efforts and express appreciation for their special contributions to the nation,” the Council stated.
Hon. Agbedi’s formal acceptance of the honour is being awaited and is expected to be communicated to the Council shortly.
