Allow Anambra Election To Hold, IPOB Urged
A political movement, Federal Social Democrats (FSD), mONday urged the Indigenous People of Biafra to suspend its sit-at-home order and allow the November 6 governorship election of Anambra State to hold.
FSD’s interim publicity secretary, Gbayode Somuyiwa, in a statement, appealed to IPOB to call off its threat to lockdown the entire southeast zonwto allow the judicial process to determine the fate of its detained leader Nnamdi Kanu.
Somuyiwa noted that the lockdown is counter-productive and not in the interest of the people of the state as instigating violence to stop the election will hurt the ordinary people.
“Those engaged in this act should be wary of playing into the hands of anti-democratic forces who have hinted at imposing emergency rule in the state,” he said.
He also called on the federal government to caution security agencies against brutalisation of the electoral process.
He said the security agencies should rather maintain neutrality and strict professionalism throughout the election process.
“INEC cannot afford to be sloppy with its arrangements and logistics. Situation where electoral materials do not arrive on time at the polling stations or where polling stations cannot be located must be avoided.”
