Akwa Ibom hails Eatech for intervening at science college

Akwa Ibom State Government has commended the intervention programme at St. Mary’s Science College (SMASCO), Ediene Abak, even as it solicits more intervention towards rehabilitation of schools in the state by corporate bodies and individuals.

Speaking during the commissioning of a renovated chemistry and biology laboratory block by Engineering Automation Technology (EATECH) Limited at St. Mary’s Science College, Ediene Abak, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, lauded the Chief Executive Officer of EATECH, Dr. Emmanuel Okon, for the intervention and stressed that the project will boost the practical aspect of science education for students.

Noting that Okon is an alumnus of SMASCO and the pioneer senior prefect of the school, Ememobong, who was a Special Guest at the occasion, appreciated him for giving back to the school, which laid the foundation for the man he has become and called on other old students of the school and members of the society to join EATECH in upgrading schools across the state as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

Represented by the Director of Public Relations, Mrs Grace Akpan, the state information commissioner, himself also an alumnus of the school who has also contributed to the growth and development of school, urged students and teachers of SMASCO to take full ownership of the new science laboratory and protect it against damage or destruction.

While handing over the renovated laboratory block to the management of the college, the CEO, EATECH Ltd, Dr. Emmanuel Okon, thanked the principal of the school, Mr. Paul Nkanta, the contractor that handled the project, students of SMASCO and the Ministry of Education for the support they gave to his company throughout the period of the renovation.
