AFRICAN UNION DAY? OR JUST ANOTHER EMPTY CELEBRATION?
Today, they tell us to celebrate Africa Day—but what exactly are we celebrating?

Are we celebrating:
▪️ The division of 54 states that still can’t act as one?
▪️ The silence of the African Union while Congo bleeds and Sudan burns?
▪️ An institution that receives millions from Europe yet claims to fight for our independence?
How can we talk of unity when our currencies are still controlled by France?
How can we speak of sovereignty when our leaders answer to the West before they answer to their people?
Let’s be honest—the Africa we were promised is still not here.
✊🏿 But it can be—if we’re bold enough to question, confront, and rebuild.
Africa doesn’t need more institutions with African names and colonial values.
We need bold structures that serve the people, defend our land, protect our wealth, and reflect our spirit.
We are the generation that must rise above symbols and demand substance.
We don’t want more speeches.
We want justice.
We want unity.
We want an Africa that finally belongs to Africans.
Today, we don’t celebrate.
We reflect. We question. We build.
The future will not come from those who keep Africa weak—it will come from those who dare to imagine her powerful.
Inspired by a letter Yaw Kissi addressed to African Union
This is not a rebellion—it’s a reawakening.
