The Second Vice President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Ms. Akuchukwu Aghazu, has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, describing the build-up as one of the best the country has witnessed in recent years.
Aghazu commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its commitment to ensuring Team Nigeria is adequately prepared, stating that the Commission has “outdone itself” in providing the necessary support for the athletes and officials.
According to her, the quality of the preparations has significantly boosted the confidence of both athletes and coaches, creating a positive atmosphere within the Team Nigeria camp ahead of the Games.

“The coaches and athletes are in incredibly high spirits and they keep saying they have never had it this good. The environment is excellent, morale is high, and everyone is focused on the task ahead,” she said.
She noted that the athletes have embraced the training programme with great enthusiasm, adding that they are working tirelessly to achieve peak fitness before the competition.
“They are training very hard every day and are highly motivated to perform. There is a strong determination among the athletes to make Nigeria proud by delivering outstanding performances and winning medals at the Commonwealth Games,” Aghazu added.
The AFN Second Vice President also praised the leadership of the National Sports Commission for creating an enabling environment that allows athletes to concentrate fully on training without unnecessary distractions. She expressed confidence that the level of preparation would translate into success when the Games begin.
Aghazu called on Nigerians to continue supporting and praying for Team Nigeria, stressing that the encouragement of the nation would inspire the athletes to give their very best on the international stage.
With preparations reaching their final stages, expectations remain high that Team Nigeria’s athletics contingent will be among the country’s strongest medal contenders at the Commonwealth Games.
