Ademola Lookman has been in fine form this season, and he produced the goods once again against Milan

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman scored a last-minute winner for Atalanta to help them claim a hard-fought 2-1 win over AC Milan on Friday.

Atalanta returned to Serie A action with a fixture against rivals AC Milan at the Gewiss Stadium. Nigerian forward Lookman led the line for La Dea alongside Charles De Ketelaere, while Samuel Chukwueze started on the bench for AC Milan.

Atalanta were the better side from the start, and they got the lead early on, courtesy of a header from De Ketelaere to make it 1-0 after 12 minutes.

However, that lead did not last, as just ten minutes later, the Rossoneri equalized through Alvaro Morata.

La Dea dominated the proceedings in the first half, but they failed to score before the break.

Atalanta dominated the second half, but they failed to score. Lookman had a big opportunity to scored in the 79th minute, but his measured strike was saved by Mike Maignan. He had another chance in the 86th minute, but Maignan proved his worth again, saving Lookman’s strike.

However, the Nigerian superstar finally got his breakthrough in the 87th minute, as he jumped highest to score a header to make it 2-1.

Eventually, that was all that was needed for Atalanta to seal the 2-1 victory over AC Milan at Gewiss Stadium. According to Opta, the win ensured that Atalanta won nine straight Serie A games for the first time since 2020.
