ADC Defeats APC As Result Of First Polling Unit In FCT Council Election Emerges

Sokoto APC Members Dump Party For ADC Over Insecurity, Hardship

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win its first polling unit in the ongoing Area Council Elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Naija News reports that the election, which recorded widespread low voter turnout, saw the opposition coalition win polling unit 076, Sani Abacha Estate, Wuse, Zone 4, where Moses Paul, the ADC candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), cast his ballot.

Of the 10 ballots cast at the voting point, ADC received 7, APC received 2, and 1 vote was declared invalid.

Paul had earlier alleged that his party’s agents were being intimidated and blamed the movement restriction for the low turnout.

In other news, ADC has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) appears to demonstrate efficiency largely when opposition figures are involved.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the claim during an interview on ARISE Television on Thursday while reacting to the arrest and detention of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Abdullahi expressed concern that national anti-corruption institutions were being perceived as partisan.

“We have the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, two national institutions funded by public money to probe and investigate corruption charges and prosecute people for corruption practices,” he said
