A New Dawn for Ebedebiri: Diri, Agbedi, Heineken and Others Celebrate Akpe’s Historic Elevation as Deputy Governor

The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Flag Bearer for Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D., joined the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, and other prominent dignitaries to thanks God and celebrate Pastor Pereotubo Akpe, Ph.D., as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.

The thanksgiving celebration, hosted by the Ebedebiri Federated Community in honour of their illustrious son, provided an opportunity for the people to express their profound appreciation to Governor Diri for entrusting one of their own with the responsibility of serving as Deputy Governor.

Hon. Agbedi commended Governor Diri for his visionary leadership, inclusive governance and commitment to recognising competence and loyalty in the service of Bayelsa State. He described the emergence of Pastor Akpe as Deputy Governor as a source of pride to Ebedebiri and a testament to the Governor’s confidence in the capacity of Bayelsans to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.

The Minority Leader, who has consistently demonstrated strong support for the Governor’s administration, also congratulated Pastor Akpe on his elevation, expressing confidence that his experience, faith and commitment to public service would complement the administration’s development agenda.

The community equally lauded Governor Diri for the appointment, describing it as a significant recognition of the contributions of Ebedebiri to the political and socio-economic development of Bayelsa State.

The presence of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, alongside other political leaders and stakeholders, further underscored the significance of the occasion and the broad goodwill surrounding the Deputy Governor’s emergence.

The celebration ended with goodwill messages and celebration, and restored commitment to supporting the Diri-led Prosperity Administration, while the Ebedebiri people pledged their continued loyalty and support to the government as it advances the development and prosperity of Bayelsa State.
