Every new day presents another opportunity for purposeful leadership, and for the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D., service to the people remains a defining priority.
As the best choice candidate for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Rt. Hon. Agbedi continues to demonstrate a leadership philosophy centred on human development, compassion and sustainable interventions that positively impact lives.
One remarkable area of his people-oriented representation is healthcare. Understanding the difficult terrain of many riverine communities and the challenges residents face in accessing affordable medical services, Rt. Hon. Agbedi initiated a free medical outreach across Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas.
The outreach brought medical services closer to the people, providing consultations, treatment and other necessary medical interventions to the elderly, men, women and children. Cases requiring specialised attention, including surgeries, were also attended to.
Among the beneficiaries was Fullpower Babylon, a young boy whose medical condition required urgent and specialised intervention. Moved by the child’s situation, Rt. Hon. Agbedi stepped in to support his medical care and treatment.
In a further demonstration of personal commitment to the welfare of the child, the Minority Leader, during a visit to the community, extended educational support to Fullpower, offering him a scholarship to support his education up to the university level and pledging continued support for his welfare and future.
Beyond medical outreach programmes, Rt. Hon. Agbedi has continued to prioritise the welfare of his constituents. His healthcare interventions include the introduction of a Health Insurance Scheme for his people, designed to support access to medical care. Prior to this initiative, he had also provided financial assistance to elderly constituents to support their medication and upkeep.
For Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi, leadership goes beyond occupying an office, it is about responding to the needs of the people, standing with them in difficult moments and creating opportunities that improve lives.
Through landmark constituency projects, empowerment initiatives, healthcare interventions, educational support, agricultural support, development of communities and traditional institutions and humanitarian assistance, Agbedi has continued to build a record of representation that speaks to the everyday needs of his people.
