AAC Delta Crisis: State Secretary Petitions NEC to Investigate Chairman Maxwell Ogor Over Leadership Dispute

PETITION FOR URGENT NEC INTERVENTION IN THE LEADERSHIP OF THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS (AAC), DELTA STATE CHAPTER

The National Executive Committee (NEC)
African Action Congress (AAC)

Dear Distinguished Members of the National Executive Committee,

I, Pondy Anthony, the duly elected State Secretary of the African Action Congress (AAC), Delta State Chapter, respectfully submit this petition requesting the urgent intervention of the National Executive Committee in the ongoing leadership challenges affecting the Delta State Chapter.

Since joining the party in 2018, I have remained committed to its ideals and have served faithfully in various capacities. However, I am compelled to bring to the attention of the National Executive Committee concerns regarding the leadership of the Delta State Chairman, Mr. Maxwell Ogor, which I believe require immediate investigation.

I am concerned that the Chairman has consistently sidelined members of the State Executive Committee by making major decisions without consultation. In particular, I believe the constitutional functions of the Office of the State Secretary have been significantly undermined through my exclusion from official communications, administrative processes, and key decision-making.

I also request that the National Executive Committee investigate reports of the Chairman’s alleged association with a faction of the Labour Party. These reports have generated concerns among members regarding the protection of the interests, independence, and integrity of the African Action Congress in Delta State. I make no finding on these reports but respectfully request that the NEC establish the facts.

These concerns are longstanding. At an earlier stage, members of the State Executive Committee resolved to suspend the Chairman over similar issues. That decision, however, was halted following the intervention of the National Secretary. Despite that intervention, I believe the issues raised have persisted.

Following the State Congress, which I chaired, I was removed from the official communication platform established for party candidates after insisting that party processes be conducted in accordance with the AAC Constitution and established procedures. In addition, the Chairman has, in my view, failed to convene regular meetings of the State Executive Committee, thereby limiting collective decision-making and affecting the effective administration of the party.

I believe these developments have contributed to internal dissatisfaction, weakened confidence among members, and pose a risk to the unity, credibility, and future of the African Action Congress in Delta State if left unaddressed.

In view of the foregoing, I respectfully request that the National Executive Committee:

  1. Investigate the conduct and administrative actions of the Delta State Chairman, Mr. Maxwell Ogor.
  2. Investigate reports concerning his alleged relationship with a faction of the Labour Party.
  3. Direct the immediate resumption of regular meetings of the State Executive Committee in accordance with the provisions of the party’s Constitution.
  4. Restore and safeguard the constitutional responsibilities of all duly elected members of the State Executive Committee, particularly the Office of the State Secretary.
  5. Take any disciplinary or corrective measures deemed appropriate to protect the integrity, unity, and democratic principles of the African Action Congress in Delta State.

This petition is submitted in good faith and solely in the interest of strengthening internal democracy, promoting accountability, and preserving the credibility and collective leadership of our great party.

I trust that the National Executive Committee will give this matter the urgent and impartial consideration it deserves.

Yours faithfully,

Pondy Anthony
State Secretary
African Action Congress (AAC)
Delta State Chapter
