BREAKING: Governor Siminalayi Fubara Withdraws from Rivers APC Governorship Primaries, Cites Peace and Unity
...My Decision to Withdraw from the Rivers State APC Governorship Primaries
Fellow Rivers People,
After deep reflection and wide consultations with my family, friends, political associates, and key stakeholders, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries in Rivers State.
This decision was made with a clear conscience, a full heart, and an unwavering commitment to the peace, stability, and unity of our dear state. I remain fully committed to supporting whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party.
Leadership, at its core, demands sacrifice. There are moments when personal ambition must give way to the collective interest of the people. At this critical point in our political journey, I firmly believe that Rivers State must come first above every personal aspiration or consideration.
To the countless supporters who stood firmly with me throughout this journey — those who gave their time, resources, prayers, and unwavering belief in our vision — I express my deepest appreciation and gratitude. I understand the disappointment, frustration, and pain many may feel at this moment. Much has been invested, and many sacrifices have been made. However, I assure you that your loyalty, trust, and commitment were never in vain.
My silence over this period was deliberate, measured, and guided solely by the higher interest of Rivers State and its people.
As our elders wisely say, not everything a hunter sees in the forest is spoken of in the marketplace. Some realities are best carried quietly — not out of fear, but out of wisdom, restraint, and commitment to a greater purpose. It is sufficient to say that I have faced immense pressures and difficult choices, yet my love for Rivers State remains greater than any personal consideration.
I sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress for the platform, support, and confidence extended to me throughout this process. I also express profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his support, encouragement, and statesmanship.
The APC remains our collective home, and I urge all party faithful and supporters to remain united, steadfast, and committed as we continue to work toward a stronger, more peaceful, and more prosperous Rivers State.
Let it be clearly understood that my decision to step aside from the upcoming Rivers State governorship election is not borne out of fear, weakness, or surrender, but from conviction, sacrifice, and a sincere desire to preserve peace, unity, and stability in our state.
I remain fully committed to serving the good people of Rivers State diligently until the very end of my tenure.
Thank you, and may God bless Rivers State.
Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS
Governor, Rivers State
