2027: Shettima Picks APC Senate Nomination Form

An aspirant for the Kaduna Central senatorial district, Yerima Shettima, has picked up the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the Senate seat in the 2027 general elections.
The forms were obtained on Tuesday, signalling his formal entry into the race for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat, as political activities begin to gather momentum across the state.
The forms were collected on his behalf by his associates, Danjuma Paul and Barrister Onus Eugene.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Shettima said picking up the forms was meant to dispel doubts about his seriousness to contest, stressing that his ambition is driven by the desire to provide effective and people-oriented representation.
He recalled that he recently led a large crowd of supporters on a declaration visit to the party leadership in Kaduna State, where he formally signalled his intention to join the race.
The aspirant reaffirmed his readiness to participate in the party’s primaries and dismissed speculations about the possible emergence of a consensus candidate.
According to him, Kaduna Central requires credible and quality representation, adding that he possesses the integrity, capacity, and broad acceptance to serve effectively.
Shettima, a former President-General of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and convener of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative (NSCI), said his years of engagement in youth advocacy have strengthened his grassroots connections and positioned him to understand the needs of the electorate.
Also speaking, the President of the Capacity Movement, Shehu Sani Sado, described Shettima as a strong contender in the race, noting that current political dynamics favour his emergence.
He added that the aspirant remains one of the key figures to watch in the Kaduna Central senatorial contest.
